To that end, Mithra which was launched in 2025 is the company’s latest innovation in ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibers and unidirectional (UD) ballistic fabrics. As this strategic material has a wide range of use from body armor to vehicle protection systems, heavy load ropes and ballistic composite structures, its domestic production will be critical for Turkish defense industry.
Aksa Carbon: A Stronger Structure in Advanced Materials Through Strategic Acquisition
In 2025, Aksa Akrilik completed the acquisition of Dow Europe Holding B.V.’s 50% stake in DowAksa. Following this transaction, DowAksa began operating under its new name, Aksa Carbon. This acquisition, a strategic component of Aksa Akrilik’s vision to expand in advanced materials and strengthen its global competitiveness, positions the company as a powerful global player in the fields of carbon fiber and high-performance materials. Through the pultrusion technology developed at its Yalova facilities, Aksa Carbon produces carbon fiber-reinforced laminated plates used in wind turbine blades.
