Mehmet Pekarun graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering at Boğaziçi University and earned an MBA with a specialization in Finance and Strategy from Purdue University. He began his professional career in 1993 in the United States at General Electric (GE), in the Transportation Systems division. Between 1996 and 1999, he served at GE Healthcare Europe as Finance Manager responsible for Türkiye and Greece, and subsequently as Finance Manager responsible for Eastern Europe. Between 1999 and 2000, he served as General Manager of GE Lighting Türkiye. From 2000 to 2005, he held the position of General Manager of the Business Development Unit for GE Healthcare across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and subsequently served as General Manager of Medical Accessories for the same region within the company. On March 1, 2006, Mehmet Pekarun was appointed CEO of Kordsa Global, and on September 20, 2010, he was appointed Head of the Tire, Reinforcement Materials, and Automotive Group at Sabancı Holding. As of March 1, 2011, this role was restructured as Head of the Industrial Group, a position he continued to hold. During his tenure at Sabancı Holding, he led the repositioning of globally operating industrial companies, the implementation of profitable growth strategies, and organizational transformation processes. After leaving Sabancı Holding in 2016, he joined CRH Netherlands as General Manager responsible for the European Building Products portfolio, where he worked on growth strategies and performance improvement. Between 2020 and 2024, he served as President of Leviat under CRH Netherlands, where he established a new and scalable growth model by unifying teams and brands across different geographies under a single global structure. As of September 2024, he has been working as a consultant.
